  ➢ Dhaka needs better waste management ঢাকার বর্জ্য-ব্যবস্থাপনা আরো ভাল করা চাই/আরো ভাল না করলেই নয়/আরো ভালো চাই 'ই চাই। 

  ➢ Because of a lack of dustbins, the problem of littering persists ডাষ্টবিনের অপ্রাতুলতা হেতু যেখানে-সেখানে বর্জ্য ছড়িয়ে-ছিটিয়ে থাকার এই সমস্যা লেগেই আছে/দূর করা দূরহ হয়ে গেছে। 

 ➢ A study by Waste Concern estimates that some 4,500 tons of household waste is produced in the capital every single day. ওয়েস্ট কনসার্নের এক গবেষণায় দেখা যায় যে প্রতিদিন ৪,৫০০ টন গৃহস্থালী বর্জ্য উৎপাদিত হয়। 

 →Household waste=গৃহস্থালী বর্জ্য 

 →Household duties=গৃহকার্য 

 →Household expense=সংসার খরচ 

 →Household word=সুপরিচিত শব্দ বা নাম। যেমন, "crush" শব্দটি এখন বহুল ব্যাবহৃত ও সুপরিচিত শব্দ বা Household word. 

 →time and again= বারবার 

 →to that end=সেই জন্যে, এই জন্যে,এই কারনে, এর ফলে 

 ➢ We have been assured time and again by our respective city corporations that the management of this waste is a priority — to that end, costly dustbins have been set up around the city; but the reality of the matter is a cause for serious worry. 

 এই বর্জ্য-ব্যবস্থাপনাকে সর্বাগ্রে রাখবে বলে/অগ্রাধীকার দেয়া হবে বলে আমরা আমাদের নিজ নিজ সিটি করপোরেশন কর্তৃক বার বার আশ্বস্ত হয়ে আসছি___সেই জন্যে, শহরের চতুর্দিকে ব্যয়বহুল ডাস্টবিন স্থাপন করা হয়েছে; কিন্তু বাস্তবতা দাঁড়িয়েছে গুরুতর উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে। 

 ➢ Around 80% of the dustbins that were installed around Dhaka to keep the city tidy are now missing, and nobody seems to know where they have gone. 

 পরিষ্কার-পরিচ্ছন্ন নগরের লক্ষ্যে সমগ্র ঢাকায় বসানো ডাষ্টাবিনগুলির প্রায় ৮০ শতাংশই এখন উধাও, এবং এসব কোথায় হারিয়ে গেল তার কোন খবর কারো কাছে আছে বলে মনেও হয় না। 

 ➢ Because of a lack of dustbins, the problem of littering persists. 

 ডাষ্টবিনের অপ্রাতুলতা হেতু যেখানে-সেখানে বর্জ্য ছড়িয়ে-ছিটিয়ে থাকার এই সমস্যা লেগেই আছে/দূর করা দূরহ হয়ে গেছে। 

 ➢ It is incumbent upon the DNCC and the DSCC to fix this problem. 

 এই সমস্যা সমাধানের দ্বায়-দায়ীত্ব বর্তায় ডিএনসিসি এবং ডিএসসিসি এর উপর। 

 →noble initiative=মহৎ উদ্যোগ 

 →noble family=অভিজাত পরিবার 

 →noble-minded=ভদ্র 

 →noble idial=সর্বোত্তম আদর্শ 

 →come up with+sth=কোন কিছু নিয়ে হাজির হওয়া/কোন কিছু তুলে ধরা যেমন, 

 →আগে থেকেই একটু চিন্তা করে নিলে আপনি অনেক কার্যকারী দৃষ্টান্ত তুলে ধরতে পারবেন। 

 With a little forethought, you can come up with effective illustrations. 

 →কোটা সংস্কার করতে এর পিছনে যুক্তি তুলে ধরতে হবে। 

 You have to come up with reasons to reform quota. 

 →All the way=সারাক্ষণ/সারা রাস্তা/সর্বদিক/একেবারে 

 →I can dance all the way=সারাক্ষণ নাচতে পারি। 

 →We sang all the way of traveling= ভ্রমণের সারা রাস্তা ব্যাপী গান গেয়েছিলাম। 

 →I read Quran all the way through my young age = একেবারে ছোট বেলা থেকেই আমি কুর আন পড়ি। 

 →meaning ensuring= নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে/উদ্দেশ্যে/অভিপ্রায়ে 

 ➢ It is not enough to simply come up with a noble initiative, the projects must be seen all the way through, meaning ensuring the dustbins stay where they were installed, and that people are actually using them. 

 শুধু মহৎ কোন উদ্যোগ নিয়ে হাজির হওয়াই যথেষ্ট নয়, ডাস্টবিনগুলি যেখানে স্থাপন করা হয়েছিল সেখানেই আছে এবং আসলেই মানুষ যে এগুলো ব্যাবহার করছে তা নিশ্চিত করার উদ্দেশ্যে এই প্রকল্পগুলি সর্বক্ষণ নজরে রাখা আবশ্যিক। 

 ➢ Our considerable economic achievement in the past years mean little if we cannot raise the quality of life in our capital and largest city, and that means keeping our streets clean. 

 আমরা যদি আমাদের রাস্তাসমূহ পরিষ্কার পরিচ্ছন্ন রাখার প্রক্রিয়া/পদ্ধতির গুণগত মান সহ আমাদের রাজধানী ও বৃহত্তর শহরে জীবন যাত্রার মান উন্নয়ন করতে না পারি তাহলে বিগত বছরের বেশ কিছু অর্থনৈতিক অর্জন অমূল্যায়ীত থেকে যাবে/মূল্যবান বলে গণ্য হবে না। 

 ➢ Sadly, it is not uncommon to find a dustbin overflowing with garbage, with waste spilling out on to the footpath and main road, the stench becoming unbearable for commuters. 

 দুঃখের বিষয়/দুঃখের সঙ্গে বলতে হয়, আবর্জনা উপচে-পড়া ডাস্টবিন খুঁজে পাওয়া সচারচর ঘটনা নয়, ফুটপাথ ও প্রধান সড়কে নেমে আসা আবর্জনার কারনে, দুর্গন্ধ যাত্রীদের জন্য অসহনীয় হয়ে উঠছে। 

 ➢ We were promised a clean, green, and liveable city, and we would like to hold the authorities to that pledge. আমাদের একটি পরিষ্কার, সবুজ, এবং বাসযোগ্য শহরের প্রতিশ্রুতি দেয়া হয়েছিল এবং আমরা চাই সেই প্রতিশ্রুতি বা অঙ্গীকারই কর্তৃপক্ষ ধরে রাখুক/বজায় রাখুক। 

 ➢ To make Dhaka liveable, for us, and for future generations, we hope waste management will be a priority for our city corporations. ঢাকাকে আমাদের জন্য এবং ভবিষ্যত প্রজন্মের জন্য বাসযোগ্য করতে, আশা করি আমাদের সিটি কর্পোরেশন বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনাকেই অগ্রাধিকার দিবে।
